What is designer permanent makeup?

What is designer permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as micro-pigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is a method of professionally applying natural pigments into the dermal layer of skin. This technique is medically proven and is completely safe when performed by a skilled technician in a professional environment.

Permanent makeup is different from traditional tattooing as the pigment is implanted at a much shallower depth and the pigments we use are especially formulated for the face and are not the same as body tattoo inks.

Permanent makeup is used for a variety of cosmetic enhancements such as permanent eyebrows, eye liner, and lip liner/colour. Permanent makeup can also be used to create the look of a nipple and areola after breast reconstruction surgery.

Services

Services

Prior to your treatment we begin with a detailed consultation to discuss your expectations and realistic outcomes, choose a shape and the correct colour to suit your skin undertones and hair/eye colour. It is important to spend as much time as you need so you know what your procedure will look like for you, before we begin.

Eyeliner:

To define and enhance the eyes. Applied into the lash line to give natural definition and gives sparse lashes a fuller appearance. It can be applied soft and natural or darker, thicker and defined for a more dramatic look. Customised to suit your individual eye shape and personal style.

Lower lash line enhancement – $380 (duration – 75 minutes)

Upper lash line enhancement – $395 (duration – 90 minutes)

Designer defined lower – $420 (duration – 90 minutes)

Designer defined upper – $440 (duration – 110 minutes)

*Re-touch required 6 to 8 weeks later – $85

Eyebrows:

Everyone is meant to have eyebrows. Eyebrows frame the face and the correct colour and shape can give you an instant ‘facelift’ effect.

Eyebrow shape is individually designed to suit your face shape, skin undertones and hair/eye colour. For those with sparse brows, colour can be added through the natural hairline to correct unevenness and give more definition. They can be softly arched to create a lift or fill the gaps where there is no hair. A soft natural look can be created or it can be darker and defined.

You can choose between hairstrokes (feathering) or Powder blend (brow colour filled in) or a combination of both.

Hairstrokes (feathering) – $595 (duration – 2hrs)

Powder Blend – $595 (duration – 2hrs)

Full Colour – $595 (duration – 2hrs)

Six Week Retouch – $85

Lip Colour:

Lip colour enhances the shape of your lips. It can be used to correct uneven lip shape making lips appear fuller and give a more youthful appearance by replacing natural colour lost through the aging process. It can help prevent lipstick from ‘bleeding’ and minimise the appearance of wrinkles. Scars left by cold sores can also be camouflaged. Choose from soft natural colour or something a little more defined. The range of colours to choose from is natural skin tones, pinks, corals, oranges, reds and brown tones.

You can choose from: Lip outline, Lip Outline and Blend or Full Lip colour.

In some cases a dental block is recommended prior to treatment. This will be arranged for you should you choose this option, the cost of the dental block will be paid by the client directly to the dentist.

If you suffer from cold sores, a prescription will be organised for Zovirax tablets to be taken before and after the procedure.

Lip liner – $450 (duration 1 1/2 hrs )

Lip line and Blend – $550 (duration 1 3/4 hrs)

Full lip colour – $630 (duration 2 hrs)

* retouch 8 - 10 weeks later $85

Additional service:

Aerola & Nipple creation after breast construction surgery 3D effect – $495 per side

Eight Week Retouch – $85

Corrections:

If a permanent makeup procedure has been done elsewhere and the finished effect is unsatisfactory and unable to be corrected by the original artist, Kathy can offer advise on the best procedure to remedy this.

Often shape and colour can be improved easily while others may require a removal process, which may take more than one visit.

Kathy specialised in working with tattoo removals for many years and can offer solutions in most cases.

Dermapen – Dermal Needling

(Also known as C.I.T. Collagen Induction Therapy)

Dermal needling stimulates the production of elastin and collagen fibres. As the skin responds it plumps and thickens and reduces the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Crows feet

  • Scarring and acne

  • Pore size and skin texture

  • Can reduce the appearance of pigmentation

For best results a course of 4-6 treatments are recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it last?

The pigments are different than a tattoo ink and are designed to fade with time. The pigment is placed into the skin approximately 1/3rd of the depth of a traditional tattoo, therefore the colour is softer.

There are factors such as sun exposure, chemicals in skin care, medical conditions and the skins  ability to retain the pigment.  Darker colours can last several years, however softer colours fade sooner. This process can vary from person to person and can range from 12 months to five years or more, before needing to be refreshed.

The natural fading process of the pigments gives you the opportunity to alter your shape and colour over the years to keep your beautiful look up to date. We recommend you have your colour refreshed before the pigment fades out completely so you always look great.

Guideline for longevity of pigment:

Eyebrows – hairstrokes/feathering – 12 to 18 months

Eyebrows Powder Brow – 18 months to four years or more

Full Colour – 18 months to four years or more

Eyeliners (depending on colour used) – two to six years or more

Lip colour – 18 months to five years or more.

Do I need time off for healing/recovery?

Most people return to work or their normal activities the same day, however with the eyeliner a slight swelling may be experienced, which varies from person to person but on average can last 24 to 48 hours.

The eyebrow colour will be darker to begin with and will exfoliate off over the next few days showing a softer more natural look. For those who need to return to work straight away, we stock a range of Jane Iredale mineral makeup which can be used to soften the look immediately.

Does it hurt?

The use of state of the art anaesthetics used before and during the procedures enables procedure to be done in comfort. This differs between individuals. Some feel no discomfort at all particularly the eyebrows and lips (with the use of dental block). The eyeliner is usually very comfortable but can be a little strange for some at first as they feel more vulnerable in this area. Once started most clients relax and find it completely fine.

How has permanent make-up evolved over the years?

Around 30 years ago most procedures were performed using handheld devices with no anaesthetic creams. Over the years, machines have been designed and improved along with different needle configurations which are used to create different techniques. Pigments have been designed specifically for permanent makeup with a large range of colours and anaesthetic creams are of a very high quality.

This enables well trained Permanent Makeup artists to implant the pigments into the skin more accurately, faster and with little or no discomfort for the client, which also means less swelling and faster healing. We can offer a more comprehensive range of colours designed to match skin undertones with a natural look particularly for the eyebrows. For eyeliner and lip colour the choice can be from a soft and natural finish or defined and vibrant.

Consultation

Consultation is complimentary and a great opportunity to discuss the treatments best suited to you. There are photo albums and iPads available to browse through, showing before and after photos of our treatments. Together we discuss the result you desire and choose the correct colour and shape to suit your individual skin tone, hair/eye colour and face shape. You can choose to have a defined or dramatic look - or to have it soft and natural.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in-touch.
